Agni Nakshatiram will start on May 4th this year and go on till May 28th. The peak period of heat (Kathri) will be between May 11th and May 24th. ‘The summer would not be very harsh this May due to the strengths and weaknesses of  certain planetary positions. And hence, the public need not worry too much about hot weather…  We can actually expect some rain in southern Tamil Nadu, which would gradually move up to Northern parts of the state during May month. There is also a possibility of a cyclone hitting Northern Tamil Nadu and Southern Andhra Pradesh between May 14-18’, said an astro meteorologist.

‘The period when the Sun would be in the foreground of Pleiades star cluster (six stars created by Lord Siva), was called Karthigai Natchathiram or more famously called Agni Natchathiram. During the period, the Sun will be shining over India and it will be very hot. At the same time, it will be winter in Australia and South Africa’, said Mr. P. Iyamperumal, Executive Director of Tamil Nadu Science and technology Centre.
