In the St Thomas Mount police district, there are as many as 15 police stations and many policemen live in the police quarters in the jurisdiction. In addition to this, there are also thousands of apartment complexes here.

In order to avoid crowds gathering at ATMs in St Thomas Mount police district plus to help families belonging to police personnel and other residents withdraw money easily, the police have tied up with SBI for operating ATM powered by solar power.

According to DCP, St Thomas Mount, Mr. K. Prabhakar, that most of them would get their salaries at this time and hence many would go to the ATMs. He added that to prevent crowding he wanted to take the ATM to the doorsteps. He then spoke to the SBI Guindy and arranged solar powered mobile ATM.

From morning 9 am till 6 pm in the evening, mobile ATM would go to the apartment complexes as well as to the police quarters every day. It must be noted that the van and the ATM machine are disinfected frequently and people are made t use hand sanitizer before entering the van.

Point is people are made to follow social distancing (need of the hour) while entering the vehicle to withdraw money from ATM.
