Std. X CBSE results good

Std. X CBSE students in Chennai fared well in the Board Exams held in March according to the results that were announced on Sunday. The numbers showed a 99.87 per cent pass rate.

As per CBSE’s CCE (Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation) system, students are given grades for their curricular and co curricular activities. Also, no student is failed. Those who do not fare well in the examinations are given E1 and E2 (Eligible for Improvement) grades. 213 students fall under this category this year.

Says a CBSE official, ‘This (the pass percentage) is an increase from last year’s figure of 99.66 per cent… Of the 2,338 schools in the region, 213 are Kendriya Vidyalayas, 106 are Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, 84 are government schools, 1,930 are private schools and 5 Central Tibetan Schools.’
