The Indian Meteorological Centre has informed that as a severe depression format has stabilized for a long period over the Bay of Mannar, there are prospects for very heavy rains.
The above depression zone is located in the southwest at a distance of 40 km from Ramanathapuram, and at southwest at a distance of 70 km from Pamban. Presently, high-speed winds are blowing at 55 kmph to 65 kmph. It is informed that at times, the wind speed may be up to a maximum of 75 kmph!
The cyclone Burevi has caused heavy rains in several districts in Tamil Nadu! The details:
Cuddalore - A rainfall of 34 cm has been recorded at Chidambara, Cuddalore District. Rainfall recorded in other places in cm: Kothavacherry – 34, Annamalai Nagar – 33, Lalpettai – 30, Parangippettai – 26, Kaattumannakovil and Kurinjippasdi – 25, Sethiathoppu – 21, Bhuvanagiri – 19.
Thiruvarur – In the last 24 hours, maximum rainfall was recorded in Thiruthuraippoondi – 22 cm. Rainfall recorded in other places in the district in cm – Kudavasal -21, Nannilam – 14, Valangaiman -13, and |Thiruvarur – 11.
Ramanathapuram – A maximum rainfall of 20 cm has been recorded in Rameswaram. Rainfall recorded in other places in cm –Thangachimadam – 9, Pamban – 7.7.
Mayiladuthurai - A maximum rainfall of 36 cm has been recorded in Kollidam. Rainfall recorded in other places in cm: Manalmedu – 25, Seerkazhi -21.
