Perumbakkam tenements in Chennai to get a lush green park, gymnasium etc

Posted on: 08/Jan/2021 9:29:13 AM
In the coming months, Perumbakkam in Chennai would have a lush green park, gymnasium, a mini-clinic and a hospital also if things go as per the plans. These would be available in the TNSCB or Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board tenements.

Many improvements are needed in places like Kannagi Nagar and in the Perumbakkam tenements. It is said that Mr. T.C. Karuna, AIADMK zone 15 West area secretary had met the officers belonging to TNSCB and discussed about the improvements that are required.

Leaking ceilings:

It must be taken into account that leaking ceilings is one of the important tissues faced by the residents belonging to Kannagi Nagar and Perumbakkam tenements. It was mentioned by a resident that during the rains buckets were kept to collect water that leaks due to the presence of weak structure.

There are many houses in these tenements and currently the quantity of water supplied to these tenements is not enough. Additional 20 litres of water has been requested by Mr. Karuna. It is known that 50 litres of water is being supplied to the residents belonging to these tenements.

Relying or repairing the damaged sewages was also pointed out in the petition from Mr. Karuna.

Construction of parks, gyms, Amma mini-clinics etc:

It must be noted that the petition also wanted the construction of parks, gyms and Amma clinics etc. In all the blocks the residents wanted elevators also. Additional funds to fix the leaking ceilings has been sought now and leaky houses would be set right as soon as possible. This was as per a senior official of TNSCB. He threw light on the proposals that have been sent to set up parks, gyms and Amma mini-clinics and about the plans to set up a hospital.

It is worthy to note that at present there is just one PHC in the tenements. Maintaining the facilities are very important because miscreants might damage lifts etc. The residents belonging to the tenements must take the responsibility of maintaining the facilities. For maintaining the amenities here, all woman resident welfare groups could be formed. This was according to Sujatha, secretary, Urimai Kural Podhu Nala Sangam.
