More than 2 lakh students appeared for the online semester exams that were conducted between December 2020 and February 2021. Now, Madras University or MU would announce the results of these candidates this week.
It must be noted that more than 50,000 students of the first year appeared for their first semester exams conducted between 10th February and 23rd February.
From 21st December to 10th February, MU had also conducted arrear examination for nearly 60,000 students. It must be recalled that one lakh students had registered for the arrear exams in April 2020 that were cancelled because of Covid-19 pandemic.
In the month of December 2020, HC of Madras ordered all the state universities to conduct the arrear exams. It is now said that MU would release the second year exam results.
It is learnt that the colleges which received questions from the university have sent those to the students through WhatsApp. From their homes, the students wrote the exams and sent the answer sheets on the same day to their colleges.
Point is that the colleges evaluated the answer sheets and sent the marks to the university. The examinations were conducted on mutual trust and not monitored. This was mentioned by a principal belonging to a college in Chennai.
