Chennai city recorded 41.3 degrees Celsius yesterday- Its highest in the last 68 years

This news would certainly surprise and shock many residents belonging to Chennai!!
It is now brought to light that Chennai city and other districts in TN witnessed the hottest day in the month of March in 2021. The 68 year old record has been broken now. The temperature that was recorded at Meenambakkam yesterday was41.3 degrees Celsius
It was later mentioned by some weather bloggers that the temperature in Chennai on Tuesday was the highest in March. It must be recalled that on 29th March 1953, Nungambakkam in Chennai recorded 40.6 degrees Celsius. This was brought out by weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John.
According to another weather blogger Mr. K. Srikanth strengthening westerlies have led to reduced impact of sea breeze. This has increased the temperatures in the afternoons. Truth is that RMC has issued a warning regarding temperature increase on Sunday. Many districts in TN recorded temperatures more than 40 degrees Celsius.
