With only a couple of more days for the release of “Jagame Thandhiram”, June 18th 2021, the producers seem to have made a sizeable business before the release of the movie.
Pegged at around Rs.65 Crores, the producers Y Not Studios have marketed their movie well. The movie is releasing on the OTT platform Netflix, who if sources are to be believed, has bought the movie for more than Rs.40 Crores.
Initial talks of Sony Music buying the audio rights for Rs.1.5 Crores was doing the rounds. Not just this, satellite TV rights have been acquired by Star Vijay for around Rs.9 Crores.
Besides this, dubbing rights for other languages is estimated at around Rs.8 crores. In addition to this, overseas rights, internet streaming rights to companies like Tentkotta, and countries where the Tamils population is higher like Malaysia, Singapore, etc are estimated at more than Rs.3 Crores.
Even in days where theatrical releases are becoming difficult, the producers of big-budget movies are finding their ways to make profits. Reports also have it that there could still be a theatrical release of “Jagame Thandhiram” depending on the response the movie receives on OTT.
