Now, the residents belonging to Chennai are rushing to various shops to buy items as just a few days are remaining for the most important festival Deepavali.
It was mentioned by the Chennai police commissioner Mr. Shankar Jiwal that to deal with the heavy rush at the commercial areas and other places in Chennai elaborate security arrangements have been made and around 18000 police personnel have been deployed. Till the night on 4th of November, the security measures would be present.
Important localities in Chennai like T. Nagar, Pondy Bazaar, Mylapore, Purasawalkam, Flower Bazaar, Washermenpet, Koyambedu, Chromepet and Tambaram would be under the control of police personnel till 4th November. Three important arrangements like crowd control, crime prevention and raising Covid-19 awareness would be carried out for the sake of the public for the deepavali festival.
It must be noted that 18000 personnel belonging to law and order, crime, traffic, Armed Force and TN Special Force would be present on the Chennai roads for providing 3-tier security with extra vigil.
Watch towers have been installed temporarily and the police personnel would be keeping an eye on the public round the clock through rotations. Information is that additional CCTV cameras and temporary control rooms have been set up and police departments have been watching the crowd movement to prevent chain snatching and other crimes.
In places where crowds throng, drones have been deployed for surveillance and distribution of scarves has been done for the women shoppers to protect them from chain snatchers. Criminal activities would be prevented in crowded places by the police personnel with body cameras. To assist during patrols, more than 1200 sub inspectors have been given face recognition cameras.
The Chennai police commissioner revealed that the public could burst crackers in the specified time mentioned by the Supreme Court. It is now said that action would be taken against the violators and they cannot escape easily.
Recently, the Central Crime Branch grabbed the attention of many when it traced and arrested the accused in the online fraud, land grab, forgery and other cases etc. The Chennai police commissioner rewarded the 57 police personnel belonging to the above said department.
