The schools for the students belonging to the classes 1 to 8 in Chennai and in Tamil Nadu have resumed now. Many students have shown huge interest to attend the direct physical classes in their schools. It must be taken into account that the schools have reopened after a long gap of more than 18 months.

The minister for health, Mr. M. Subramanian grabbed many eyeballs when he visited the Manthoppu Girls High School in Saidapet.  He interacted with the students and teachers etc at this school regarding social distancing preparedness etc. The minister later spoke about how 2 hostel students in Tiruppur were tested Covid-19 positive on 28th October and how the district health officer conducted Covid-19 test for 115 students at the school. As many as 13 students were isolated and treated.

The students must compulsorily wear facemasks inside the campus and wash their hands frequently with hand sanitizers placed at many places. The safety precautions regarding Covid-19 would be told to the parents and teachers would also be trained.

All the children would be vaccinated on priority basis once the Union government and ICMR gives permission to vaccinate those below the age of 18.Information collected is that around 71lakh people have been vaccinated with first dose and around 31 lakhs have been vaccinated with second dose. The health minister revealed that the Tamil Nadu government has been working on vaccinating 100 percent of the people with a single dose. For this, the TN government would be holding 10 mega vaccination camps.
