Now, holidays are declared for 2 days for schools and colleges in Chennai and nearby districts and one day holiday for govt offices!!

The government of Tamil Nadu has announced holidays for the schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet and Kancheepuram districts for today 8th and tomorrow 9th November due to heavy rains. This was according to the Chief Minister of TN, Mr. M. K. Stalin.

The Chief Minister was busy directing the officials to expedite rescue and relief work due to heavy rainfall in Chennai and in TN in the last 24 hours.

As many as 160 relief camps have been set up in Chennai city by the GCC and 4 NDRF teams have been sent to Madurai, Chengalpet and Thiruvallur districts. It is learnt that SDRF teams have been sent to Cuddalore and Thanjavur districts.

It was later announced by the CM that all government offices in Chennai district (except essential services like Aavin, public transport, local administration etc) would have a one day holiday today.

It must be noted that the chief minister monitored relief operations in places inundated during the rains. He also made his presence felt at various places in Chennai like Kolathur, Perambur, Purasawalkam, Kosapet, Otteri and distributed food and other relief materials to the affected people. It is well known that rains have been lashing Chennai and various districts in Tamil Nadu for the last 2 days.
