Heavy rains: Orange alert for 14 districts!!

As heavy rains have been persisting in Tamil Nadu, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that an ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued to 14 districts in Tamil Nadu!
The 14 districts – Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, Vellore, Thirupathur, Ranippettai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakkurichi, Thiruvannamalai, Salem, Nagappattinam, and Mayiladuthurai.
An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued to Puducherry and Karaikkal as well.
An Orange alert has been issued to the above districts as there are strong prospects for heavy to very heavy rains to persist.
‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued to the districts of Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Trichy, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Pudhukkottai, and Ramanathapuram. The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in the above 7 districts.
