Tangedo is now grabbing the attention for this reason!!

Tangedco or Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company had decided to install solar power plants on large scale to reduce the high cost power procured from private power generators. In this aspect, the chairman and MD of Tangedco, Mr Rajesh Lakhani has written a letter to all the district collectors to identify lands from 20acres to 200 acres for setting up of 5 to 50 megawatt solar power plants in every district.

It must be noted that the state electricity minister Mr. Senthilbalaji in the Assembly made an announcement regarding establishment of a solar power park of 4000MW capacity and battery storage systems with a capacity of 2000 MW based on technical and commercial feasibility. It is learnt that Tangedco would initiate steps to set up 20000MW solar energy power stations and 10000 MW battery storage systems across a period of 10 years. The main objective behind this was to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. These were pointed out in the letter written by Mr. Rajesh Lakhani to all the district collectors. Truth is that the need to set up solar power parks in each district was because of the growing demand for electricity and to harness excess solar power potential.

Establishing an MW of solar power plant needs 4 acres of land and this was highlighted by some sources belonging to Tangedco. Hence, the CMD of Tangedco has written a letter to all the district collectors to identify a non cultivable land for setting up of solar power plants.
