Constructed across the surplus canal of Puzhal, 2 bridges at Amulavoyal and Burma Nagar in Chennai are grabbing attention now. The superb news is that these 2 bridges will be opened for public use soon.
Yesterday, Chennai Corporation commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singh was cynosure of many eyes when he inspected these 2 newly built bridges along with the team of officers. Truth is that the bridge at Amulavoyal was built at a cost of Rs 15.9 crores and the bridge at Burma Nagar was built at a cost of Rs 14.33 crores.
The bridges are in the completion stage now and it will be opened by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu shortly. In December 2015, when the area was flooded the bridge project was proposed. The vehicular traffic would not be affected even if the canal overflows during heavy rains or surplus water is released from Puzhal reservoir. It is worthy to note that the bridge at Amulavoyal would be 108.5m in length and 12.5m in width and it would be linking Andarkuppam and IRR in Manali.
The existing iron bridge would be replaced by the new second bridge at Burma Nagar & it would link Manali Expressway and Burma Nagar main road.
