The Vinayakar Chathurthi festival is approaching fast now and it is one of the important festivals for the Tamilians across the world along with Pongal, Diwali and Navratri.
Now, the Chennai residents are eagerly waiting for this festival on Wednesday, 31st August. It is known that eco-friendly statues of Lord Vinayagar have become very famous these days because the Chennaites are very much concerned about the pollution.
According to Mr. Gurukulam Rajesh, state joint organising secretary, Hindu Munnani, for the last 2 years Coronavirus infection pandemic has restricted the Vinayakar Chathurthi celebrations. He added that this time it would be celebrated in a grand manner. On several streets in Chennai, more than 1.5lakhs of eco-friendly Vinayakar idols would be placed of sizes 3feet to 11feet. Across 700 places in TN, Vinayakar Chathurthi procession would take place. There would be distribution of 10lakh eco-friendly clay statues of Vinayagar and seeds etc.
It is important to mention that other communities would also be allowed to participate in the Vinayakar Chathurthi procession celebrations. The celebrations would be allowed as per the orders from the TN government. Information is that many online and offline stores sell multiple designs of Lord Vinayagar riding a bike, Bahubali Vinayagar etc.
Seeragam, an outlet at Alwarpet in Chennai has been selling organic farm products and the owner of this shop was happy regarding the response from the customers. Point is that many kids now want to buy seed Vinayar idols. The main advantage of seed Vinayar idols is that they could be reused as plants in the homes and need not be immersed in the sea.
Various seeds from vegetables like brinjal, tomato, beans, radish etc are used inside the Vinayakar idols. These idols are available in various sizes and the cost depends on the size and customisation etc.
What would the Police department be doing?
It was confirmed by some police sources that 20000 police would be deployed in the state for security for the Vinayar Chathurthi celebrations. It must be noted that permission has been issued to install 3000 Vinayagar idols within the Chennai limits, Avadi and Tambaram city commissionerate. There would be one policeman near each idol and they would be associating with other departments like the electricity department, fire and safety department and Chennai Corporation etc.
Natural, biodegradable and eco-friendly Vinayakar idols would be allowed during the procession and this was as per the guidelines of TNPCB.
