Ganesh N Rajan’s Book is now retitled - Being Here Now: Insights of an ex-schizophrenic Chennai - 17th October 2022
Ganesh was diagnosed with schizophrenia in his late teens, circa 1980. He experienced florid symptoms of the condition, including hallucinations and delusions. The symptoms receded after three years of treatment; however, many allied issues like social withdrawal, inappropriate emotions, and low self-esteem remained. Nevertheless, through sheer serendipity and some analyses, besides newer anti-psychotics, he got over much of the distress associated with the affliction.
Ganesh authored the first edition of his non-fiction book I, Me and Us in 2015. He covered existence, interaction, and grit from fresh perspectives. He attempts to demystify much of our social reality. His second book, fiction, God Flipped Me Off (Notion Press 2021), aims to entertain as it informs on this devastating affliction. His two books capture the essence of everything that facilitated his return rejuvenated.
The first edition of I, Me and Us got a warm reception from the psychiatric community but fell short in reaching out to wider audiences. Many readers pointed out that they would like to see a new improved version. Ganesh says of his latest edition, “Time has humbled, wizened, and made me better with what I want to share. As a result, I think this second edition is easier to read and understand than its first attempt.”
