On 24th October, deepavali would be celebrated in the state of Tamil Nadu and many would be going to their native places for this important festival.
The traffic police department has revealed that from as many as 6 locations in Chennai special buses would be operated throughout Tamil Nadu for 3 days for this deepavali festival. This would be from 21st to 23rd October and it would be done to reduce the traffic congestion due to deepavali.
The traffic police had issued a statement in this regard and as per the statement it was clear that on the occasion of deepavali for the public convenience and to avoid unnecessary traffic congestion at the Koyambedu bus terminus in Chennai, special buses belonging to both TNSTC as well as Government Rapid Transport Corporation would be operated from 6 locations in Chennai for 3 days from 21st to 23rd October.
Buses that would start from Koyambedu bus terminus:
From Chennai to Mayiladuthurai Madhavaram new bus stand, buses from Chennai to AP and all AP buses, buses from Poonamallee bus stand those buses going to places like Kancheepuram, Arcot, Arani, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Thirupathur and Hosur etc.
Buses that would start from Tambaram Sanatorium Arignar Anna bus terminus:
Those buses plying through places like Tindivanam Vikravandi, Panruti, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur and beyond would start from here.
Buses operating from near Tambaram railway station:
Buses going to Thiruvannamalai.
Buses operating from Tambaram municipal transport corporation bus stand - Bus going to Polur, Chetpet, Vandavasi, Sengi etc and buss plying through Tindivanam to places like Panruti, Neyveli, Vadalur, Chidambaram and Kattumannarkoil etc. Buses going to places like Cuddalore, Puducherry, Chidambaram through Tindivanam etc.
Buses that would start from KK Nagar municipal transport corporation bus stand:
Those buses that ply through ECR to places like Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram etc-
It must be noted that due to the deepavali festival more number of buses would be operated. Truth is that steps have been taken to stop the buses at the following places and later send the buses to Chennai to prevent traffic congestion.
Point to be noted is that light goods and heavy goods vehicles from coming from Poonamalle to Koyambedu would be diverted through Maduravoyal bypass road to Ambattur to reach the destinations. In the same way, heavy goods vehicles coming to the 100ft road via Madhavaram m Roundtana and Madhavaram flyover etc must take ORR through GNT Road, Kavangarai and Sengundram.
It is important to note that goods vehicles coming from 100 feet road Padi flyover to Koyambedu would have to take CDH Salai near Padi flyover. Those goods vehicles coming from Koyambedu flyover towards 100 feet road must take PH Road and EVR Salai to go to their destinations.
Those goods carrying vehicles going towards Koyambedu at Poonamallee junction must go to Naduvankarai junction and Nelson Manickam Road to Anna Nagar 3rd Avenue, 2nd Avenue, Shanthi Colony and Ambattur Estate Road in another route.
Private vehicles present around Koyambedu bus terminus and those who want to go to Maduravoyal must take another route via Naduvankarai junction, Shanthi Colony, 13th Main Road, 2nd Avenue Road, Estate Road etc. Those private vehicles going towards Vadapalani must take NSK Junction, Razzack Gardens, MMDA Colony, Vinayagapuram etc.
In the festival days, the route between Tambaram and Perungalathur would be crowded and it is said that the private buses must take the route along ECR and OMR through Chengalpet and Thirukazhukundram etc to reach southern places in Tamil Nadu. Omni buses from Koyambedu market e-route must take Poonamallee High Road and from then on must take ORR via Nazarathpet to Urapakkam to reach the destinations.
