Getting a seat in an MBBS or BDS course is not very easy!!
Only those aspiring hard working students who prepare well and perform well would get a seat in the medical and dental colleges. The competition to join the first year medical course is usually higher when compared to the engineering courses in Tamil Nadu.
Now, the students who have been allotted seats through All India quota and TN state quota have been allotted seats under the management quota and NRI quota also. It is now said that atleast 500 medical course seats that have been allotted in the first round of counselling would be vacant.
It must be taken into note that the staff selection committee allotted students to the same colleges under the govt and management quota. There are atleast 9 students who have been allotted medical seats in JIPMER in Puducherry and these students have been allotted seats in MMC in Chennai also. There are also few students who were given seats under both All India quota and state round.
Point to be noted is that even in the state there are students who have been allotted seats in both government and management quota. Nineteen students who have got seats in CMC Vellore under the management quota have been given seats under government quota seats for MBBS course.
Online simultaneous counselling has got few drawbacks and this was as per Mr. Muthuselvan, secretary of the selection committee. He spoke about how the aspiring students would apply for both government as well as management quota because they would have some self financing medical colleges as the second or third option.
He concluded that denying a seat for the meritorious students would not be possible. It is true that there are some students who have secured admissions in the same medical college through different quotas also.
