In various government schools in Tamil Nadu, the maintenance works would be carried out as the school education department has released an amount of Rs 119.27 crores now. In another 5 days, the respective CEO`s would be releasing all the funds. An order has been sent regarding this.
Under the SSA or Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan scheme, the funds would be released. It is noteworthy that the teachers were unhappy till now for the delay in the release of the funds for carrying out repair works in the government schools in the state.
According to a government school teacher from Ulundurpet , the school repair works would have begun before the monsoon if the release of funds was done earlier. Fixing the ceilings and changing electrical wires etc in the schools campuses would have been carried out easily if there were no rains. Depending on the number of students studying in the govt schools, funds have been released
Point is that out of total funds released Rs 80.53 cr has been alloted for primary schools and middle schools. For the higher and higher secondary schools, Rs 38.74 cr was allotted.
The circular released has revealed that an amount of Rs 10000 has been sanctioned for schools with maximum of 30 students and an amount of Rs 25000 has been sanctioned for schools with maximum of 100 students. For those schools with 250 students, an amount of Rs 50000 has been allotted. An amount of Rs 75000 has been allotted for schools with 1000 students and Rs One lakh for the schools with more than 1000 students.
The deadline for completing the repair works in the government schools in TN has been fixed now and it is 15th of December. The principals of the schools have been asked to purchase the teaching and learning materials before 31st December 2022.
