Many people in Chennai depend on the metro trains to reach their destinations. This metro train transportation is one of the important modes of transport for the public belonging to Chennai now.
For nearly 2 hours yesterday, the metro train services were affected in Chennai and this caused issues for many commuters. The reason for that was due to some issue in the high voltage cable. The services of the metro trains began once again after 2 hours after the staff from CMRL fixed the issue.
It is well known that the metro train services were introduced in the city to provide a solution for the traffic congestion.
Metro trains on 2 lines now:
It is worthy to mention that at present metro trains are operated on 2 routes now. From Wimco Nagar to airport through Anna Salai and from Chennai Central to airport through Koyambedu and to St Thomas Mount through Koyambedu. During the weekdays, 2.10 lakhs to 2.20lakhs people travel in the metro trains in Chennai.
Ever since the metro trains started operating in Chennai, people from all walks of life like school and college students, private employees, govt employees have been benefited well. The rainy season has led to many people to use metro trains.
Metro train services affected:
At around 6pm in the evening on 3rd November 2022, there was an issue in the metro train services between Koyambedu and St Thomas Mount. This has led to brief disruption of the metro train services on this important route.
An explanation was issued on behalf of CMRL. It stated that there was an issue in the high power voltage between Koyambedu Chennai and St Thomas Mount. As a result of this issue, just one metro train was operated for every 20 minutes on the single line. It added that the metro train services between Chennai Central and airport have been stopped temporarily.
