The rains in Chennai city have stopped many students from going to their classes. It is now brought out that the classrooms in the GCC run schools are full of students as the students have come back once again after the rains have stopped.

It must not be forgotten that last week it was said that 30% of the students near the water bodies did not turn up after the rains. With rains abating, the strength of the students in the schools have increased. This was according to an officer from GCC.

The officer spoke about how during heavy rains areas get flooded and due to this the students don`t go to their schools. As the online classes are not a viable option, the absentees are given special attention.

For the students belonging to classes 6 to 10, a detailed preparatory action plan has been made for Nov 11, 12and 13 by the headmaster of  Chennai High School at Kodungaiyur in Chennai. With the help of a detailed preparatory action plan, it would be possible to complete the syllabus in the given time.

He added that the response from the students was also good. It is learnt that a WhatsApp group was created with all parents and every morning the parents would update on the situation near their houses regarding monsoons and its impact etc.

In localities where water logging was not severe, the classes have been going on well as usual. The holidays announced due to the heavy rains have been the only breaks for the students in these localities. Eldams Road based Chennai High School, headmistress K. Revathy mentioned that last year syllabus could not be completed within the given time and the exam results were disappointing. She added that after January only normalcy resumed and classes began for the students.
