On Wednesday, Karapakkam in Chennai welcomed the 18th facility of Apollo Hospitals. This has grabbed the attention of many.
It is noteworthy that the Apollo Cradle and Childrens Hospital and Apollo Fertility Center has got a dedicated 39 bed wing for obstetrics. Information collected is that this new unit from Apollo Hospitals has a 12 bed level-3 neonatal ICU with attached perinatal centre, fetal medicine and high risk obstetrics facility plus a 4 bed multidisciplinary paediatric ICU with an isolation unit. It is superb to mention that this is the second such unit in Chennai city.
At this latest unit at Karapakkam, a team of paediatric intensivists and in-house paediatric specialists etc would be present. The unit would cater to the medical needs of women and children and this was according to Preetha Reddy, executive vice-chairperson of Apollo Hospitals. There would be delivery, postnatal care, neonatal and paediatric subspecialties etc available for 24 hours here.
