Only those government school students belonging to Tamil Nadu who have enrolled themselves in the EMIS or educational management information system would be given the freebies and welfare schemes by the government. It is known that EMIS is a common online platform that connects teachers, students and institutions etc.
It is now said that this surprising decision from the school education department has come in the backdrop of a mismatch of the number of admitted students in this year against the existing beneficiaries. As many as 17 welfare schemes have been implemented by the TN state government and these schemes benefit more than 70lakhs students.
Details of students must be uploaded on EMIS compulsorily and a circular has been sent regarding this. This was pointed out by a senior official belonging to the school education department. He explained that only the students indent in EMIS would be considered for the welfare schemes. The schools in the TN state have been asked to complete the work by 16th of December 2022.
All the details of the students must be uploaded without any error and all the government schools in TN have been instructed to provide special attention to this. It is learnt that the old students` details would be deleted from the EMIS. The education of the students must not be hampered by the economic issues and social hardships etc and for this TN government has been implementing several welfare schemes. Truth is that the free textbooks scheme has been beneficial to 74.97lakhs of students belonging to classes 1 to 12.
The noon meal scheme is a part of the Social Welfare Department and due to that the schools have been asked to make sure that the list of students must be updated on the EMIS. Before submitting the final list on the online system, the head master`s of the schools must cross verify the date of the students.
