Chennai Traffic Police undertakes awareness/monitoring/prevention of violating the `STOP LINE` rule simultaneously at 287 locations in Chennai Metro City!

Chennai Traffic Police have been undertaking various activities regularly to prevent accidents, and subsequent loss of lives, and also the decreasing the severe traffic congestion in several locations in Chennai Metro City.

As a part of this effort, the penalty for violation of traffic rules has been increased and is being collected. One of the traffic violations is driving a 2-wheelers without wearing a helmet! A penalty of Rs. 1000/- is being levied for this offence.

Drunken driving leads to a penalty of Rs. 10000/- charged apart from the confiscation of the vehicle!

Apart from the above, vehicles carrying number plates with wrong registration numbers will entail a penalty of Rs. 500/- for the first time and Rs. 1500/- from the next time onwards!

4132 vehicles in parking lots were confiscated on a single day on 25th February alone for not fixing the proper number plates for the vehicles!

Subsequently, the Chennai Metro City Traffic Police has taken up and intensified charging a penalty of Rs. 500/- for violating the `STOP LINE` rule.

In this regard, Chennai Metro City Traffic Police CONDUCTED THE `STOP LINE` RULE AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT 267 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS IN CHENNAI yesterday (Monday, 27th February)!

Chennai Traffic Police charged a penalty on the vehicles which crossed the `STOP LINE` WHILE THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL WAS RED! THEY FURTHER WARNED THE VEHICLE DRIVERS NOT TO REPEAT THIS OFFENCE AND MADE THEM AWARE OF THIS PENALTY!
