Hereafter, the traffic police personnel in Chennai would have to do additional work and  their mobile phones would be used more!!

The traffic police have been tightening the crackdown on the traffic violations in Chennai and for this they would be capturing at least 5 traffic violation offenses on their smartphones.

On the busy Chennai roads, the traffic police personnel would be focussing more on the stop line violations, helmetless pillion riders, overcrowded two wheelers and defective number plates etc.

For improving the traffic discipline at the junctions, this new system has been set up now by Mr. Kapil Kumar Saratkar, ACP, Traffic. On duty traffic policemen would be provided with a register and they would have to  register the date, shift and name of the police personnel, type of traffic violation and vehicle number etc.

It must be noted that every day the police stations could identify 3 junctions by rotations earmarked for 3 e-challan machines using officers. Point is that for every 4 hours  patrol police personnel should photograph 5 violations with a number plate  on their mobile phones. They must enter the details in the register without fail.

It was later explained by Mr. Harsh Singh, DCP Traffic(North) that the constables would capture the photo in their mobile phone and submit the photo with place, time, date etc. Then the officers would register the MV Act case. He hinted that by this more traffic violations would be brought to light. At any 4 shift traffic junction, every day 20 traffic violation cases could be registered.
