The facility to travel on Chennai Metro City`s buses, Metro Rail, and suburban electric trains with a single ticket is set to be introduced by the start of 2024!
A separate app has been created for this single-ticket travel system across all transport facilities. Once the starting point and destination details are registered, the passenger will have to specify their chosen modes of transport.
In the first meeting organized by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA), approval has been granted to issue a single e-ticket for travel on Chennai Metro City`s buses, suburban electric trains (Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpattu, Central to Arkonam, and Gummidippundi)!
In an earlier meeting held two months ago and presided over by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, the planning methodology was established for this integrated travel with a single e-ticket in Chennai Metro City.
A separate app was created for this implementation. The starting point and destination must be registered in the app, and then the complete details of the modes of transport used must also be registered in the app. Once the total travel fare is paid, the e-ticket purchaser can travel throughout the registered routes for the entire day!
It must be mentioned here that this single e-ticket for traveling on three different modes of transport (bus, suburban train, and metro rail) is being introduced in the country!
