A cyclonic formation is prevailing over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal. As a result, there are prospects of mild to moderate rain today (Wednesday, 21st June) in 1 or 2 places in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikkal, and 1 or 2 places in South Tamil Nadu.
There are prospects of mild to moderate rain with lightning and thunder for 3 days starting from tomorrow (22nd, 23rd, and 24th June).
Chennai Metro City and its suburban areas will remain partly cloudy. There are prospects of medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the city.
The maximum rainfall recorded in centimeters as of 8.30 AM on Tuesday (20th June) in the last 24 hours: Chennai Taramani, Kundrathur in Kanchipuram district, and Mahuranthagam in Chengalpattu District recorded 8 centimeters.
Ayanavaram in Chennai, DGP Office, Sriperumpudhur in Kanchipuram District, Minnal in Ranippettai District, Chidambaram, and Annamalai Nagar in Cuddalore District recorded 7 centimeters.
