In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Mr. Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, the following information is mentioned:
"Due to changing speeds of the westerly wind, there are prospects of mild to medium rain for 4 days starting today (29th June, Wednesday) until the 1st of July in 1 or 2 places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas.
Chennai Metro City and its suburban areas will remain partly cloudy. There are prospects of mild rain in 1 or 2 places in the city.
The maximum rainfall recorded as of 8.30 AM yesterday (27th June) in Coimbatore District: Cinchona, Vaalparai, Chinnakkallaru; and in Cuddalore District: Panruti – 2 each.
High-speed winds at 40-50 kmph, intermittently reaching 55 kmph, may blow across the South Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Bay of Mannar, the adjacent Kanyakumari Ocean, Southwest Bay of Bengal, Lakhdiv-Maldives, and Kerala-Karnataka coastal areas. As such, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into the sea in the above regions until the 1st of July!"
