In a bid to alleviate the persistent traffic congestion at Doveton Junction, the Greater Chennai City Traffic has introduced a new traffic plan. This plan will come into effect from the evening of Saturday, August 26, 2023, and will be enforced between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Under the new arrangements, vehicles arriving from Pattalam on Perambur Barracks Road will no longer be allowed to proceed straight through the junction. Instead, they will be directed to make a right turn at Doveton Junction, leading them towards Ritherdon Road and Purasawalkam High Road.
For two-wheelers and light motor vehicles approaching from Perambur Barracks Road, a left turn at Doveton Junction is mandatory. After this, they will execute a `U` turn at the Aavin Milk Booth, located within a mere 15 meters from the junction.
In the case of heavy vehicles also arriving from Perambur Barracks Road, the prescribed route involves a left turn at Doveton Junction, leading them towards Narayan Guru Salai. From there, they will make a right turn onto EVK Sampath Road, followed by another right turn at the Jeremiah Road Junction, ultimately reaching their intended destinations.
This newly implemented traffic plan aims to streamline the flow of vehicles through Doveton Junction during peak hours, thereby reducing congestion and improving overall traffic management in the area.
