Important piece of news for the residents belonging to Chennai!!
The water hyacinth present on the Retteri Lake in Chennai would be removed by the water resources department or WRD. In addition, the polluted water would be drained by WRD. These works would be done by the end of NE monsoon. After the NE monsoon, WRD would deepen and de-silt the lake.
The sewage water is being brought to Retteri Lake by the Korattur Eri Canal. After completing the works, the Retteri lake water supply project would start. This was according to Mr. T.G. Vinay, MD of Metrowater. It must be taken into account that at Kolathur based 10 MLD water treatment plant water would be treated. The water after treatment would be supplied to nearly 4lakhs residents belonging to the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar zone.
