To combat the monsoon season, many steps have been taken by CMRL is known to us. The CMRL has also installed water pumps of varying capacities across the construction sites.
In all the corridors belonging to phase-2, as many as 350 water pumps have been installed to keep an eye on the water levels and for the removal of water from the flooded places. This was as per the data from CMRL. Between Madhavaram Milk Colony and Siruseri SIPCOT, CMRL has installed 15 water pumps. As many as 55 water pumps have been installed in the Madhavaram - Kellys section, 33 pumps in Kellys-Taramani section etc. As many as 13 pumps were installed in Kilpauk to Taramani section and 16 in Nehru Nagar to Sholinganallur section. This was as per the release from CMRL.
In the corridor 4 between Light House and Poonamallee depot, 102 water pumps have been installed by CMRL. Out of these as many as 11 water pumps were present in the LightHouse to Boat Club section, 61 pumps between Boat Club to Power House section. It must be noted that 19 water pumps were installed between Power House to Porur Bypass etc.
In Corridor 5 between Madhavaram Milk Colony and Sholinganallur, as many as 103 pumps were deployed. At the Madhavaram dept 10 water pumps have been deployed and 50 water pumps in the Assisi Nagar to CMBT section. As many as 10 water pumps were deployed in CMBT to Puzhuthivakkam section and as manya s 33 water pumps in Puzhuthivakkam to ELCOT section. Not only these water pumps but CMRL has also installed 4 pumps at Panagal Park in T. Nagar.
The release also mentioned about the collected water that would be stored in the huge 1.25lakh litre Panagal Park sump and the release of the water in Nandanam canal.
