On Sunday, on Deepavali day, IMD has predicted a dry spell. So, there is no need to worry for the residents regarding busting crackers or lighting up diyas etc.
Rains might not dampen deepavali celebrations in Chennai and this was mentioned by some weather bloggers. It is noteworthy that the met dept has predicted light to moderate rains for the next 48 hours. Around the middle of this month, IMD has predicted a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal. On Friday, many core places in Chennai had dry spell.
According to the prediction Chennai and its suburbs would receive light to moderate rains with thunderstorms and lightning etc for the next 48 hours. The maximum temp would be 32 to 33 degrees and the minimum temperatures would be 25 to 26 degrees.
On the day of deepavali, extreme southern parts of TN would only experience rains and this was as per Skymet Weather. According to the popular weather blogger from Chennai Mr. Pradeep John it was clear that the trough was responsible for the rains for 10 days in Chennai. He added that Chennai would have a dry spell till Monday. He was of the opinion that rains would come back again from1 4th of November.
Since 1st of October, Chennai has been receiving rains and till now the city has received about 190mm of rain. This is 54% below the normal. Atmospheric disturbances like cyclonic circulation have led to rains. The weather experts have said that the rains might take a break now and come back by mid November.
