On Sunday, 19th November, world cup finals took place in Ahmedabad between India and Australia and in the end it was Australia who emerged victorious.
India after winning a record of 10 matches out of 10 in the league stage raised huge hopes is well known. The final that took place between India and Australia was witnessed by more than one lakh crowd in the stadium. Aussie captain Pat Cummins after winning the toss sent India to bat.
India in their allotted 50 over could score just 240 runs. The top scorer for India was wicket keeper batsman KL. Rahul who scored 66 runs in 107 balls. Indian batting superstar Virat Kolhi made a useful 54 in 63 balls. Indian captain and opening batsmen Rohit Sharma stroked 47 runs in just 31 balls. Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Starc took 3 wickets and captain/ fast bowler Pat Cummins took 2 wickets.
For Australia, Opener Travis Head made a stunning 137 in just 120 balls. He and Marnus Labuschagne (58 not out in 110 balls) were involved in a huge partnership and helped their team to win the match. Virat Kohli became the second highest run scorer in world cup history after Sachin Tendulkar. He also became the only batsmen ever to score 9 fifties in a single world cup tournament. It is noteworthy that Virat Kohli made his 5th consecutive fifty yesterday and by that he became the first batsman to make 5 consecutive fifties twice in the world cups. It must be recalled that in the 2019 WC also Virat Kohli scored 5 consecutive fifties.
