Another low pressure area is forming now over the south Andaman Sea in the weekend and this might bring more rains in Chennai. This was revealed by IMD. For the last 2 days, Chennai has been receiving widespread rains is well known to us. The officers from IMD have mentioned that they would be tracking the weather system now. It is now said that Chennai and its suburbs could get moderate rainfall for the next 2 days.
As per Mr. S. Balachandran, deputy director general, RMC, IMD, Chennai around 26th November a low pressure area is likely to form over Andaman Sea and neighbourhood. He added that it is likely to move west north westwards and intensify into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea around 27th November. He spoke about how there would be continuous tracking of the weather system to know about its intensity.
According to the chief meteorologist, Mr. Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather, it was clear that the system might be far away from the TN coast and it would be moving fast. He spoke about how it might form around 26th and would become deep depression around 29th November.
For the next 3 days, there would be moderate rains in several places in TN due to the cyclonic circulation over the interior TN and adjoin Kerala and this was according to Mr. Balachandran. For the next 48 hours, Chennai and its suburbs might receive moderate rainfall with lighting and thunderstorms etc.
