According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, there are chances of rains from today till 17th December in Tamil Nadu. It is known that recently there were heavy rains in Chennai due to Cyclone Michaung.
It tTt was brought out by the DDG RMC Chennai Mr. P. Senthamarai Kannan that there was an atmospheric downward air circulation in the SE Arabia Sea and the adjoining Maldives areas. As a result, light to moderate rains would occur in TN, Pondicherry and Karaikal in one or two places on 12th, 13th and 14th. . On 15th, 16th and 17th, there would be rain in a few places.
For the next 2 days, Chennai and its suburbs would be partly cloudy and few places in Chennai might receive rains. The temperature would range from 24 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius.
It must be noted that in the 24 hours that ended at 8:30am yesterday maximum rainfall of 6cmwas recorded in Alagarai Estate in Nilgris dist plus in Ramanathapuram dist,Mandapam, Thanngachi Madam, Pamban, Sattankulam in Tuticorin dist. In Thoothukudi dist Thiruchendur, and in KulasekaraPattinam 5cm rainfall was recorded.
