47th Chennai Book Fair from 3rd January 2024 - Things to know!!

The latest news is that from 3rd January to 21st January 2024, a book fair would be held in Chennai and the chief minister of TN would be inaugurating the book fair. This was according to BAPASI or Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India, president, Mr. Sethu Chokkalingam and secretary, Mr. SK. Murugan.

At the press meeting, they had mentioned that the 47th book fair- 2024 would be held at Nandanam based YMCA grounds. The book fair would begin at 4:30pm in the evening on 3rd of January and it would be inaugurated by the TN chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin. .Others who would participate in the inauguration of the book fair would be the school education minister Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi etc.

The book fair would be held for 19 days from 3rd to 21st January and would have around 1000 stalls. It is now expected that about 20lakhs people would be visiting this book fair.

Timings:

It is learnt that the book fair would be held from 11am to 8:30pm on the holidays and from 2pm to 8:30pm on the normal working days. Every evening at the Thought Hall, Tamil Nadu`s best writers and scholars would be giving speeches.

The best scholars would be recognised at the book fair and they would be given Kalaignar Porkizhi award & BAPASI awards etc. It is known that Kalaignar Porkizhi award is an annual literature award given to Tamil and other language writers at the book fair. On 2nd of January 2024, all details regarding this upcoming book fair would be published. Others who were present during the press meeting were BAPASI treasurer Mr. Suresh and joint secretaries Mr. Durai Manickam, Mr. Sadhik Baasha, Mr. Loganathan and other committee members etc.
