Now, Tangedco or Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company has trifurcated the Tambaram operation and maintenance division by creating new divisions like Pallavaram & Sholinganallur. The main aim behind this trifurcation would be to address the complaints fast plus to reduce workload.
Information gathered is that the new Pallavaram division comprises sub-division namely Pallavaram, Pammal and Kadeperi. Medavakkam, Pallikaranai and Chitlapakkam sub-divisions would be present in the Sholinganallur division. It is now brought out by some Tangedco officials that the creation of new divisions was part of the plans to re-organise utility distribution regions.
Various advantages are effective monitoring of the subdivisions by the new divisions, availability of uninterrupted power supply and redress the consumer`s grievances efficiently. As per a Tangedco officer it was clear that due to the rapid urbanisation the workload in some divisions of the distribution circles have increased many times. He spoke about how the timely delivery of the services would get affected.
He concluded that for the sake of providing better services by equally distributing the workload, there was a huge need to re-organise distribution regions, circles, divisions etc.
It must be recalled that in 2022 Tangedco had three new distribution regions like Karur, Thanjavur and Thiruvannamalai etc but Chennai South region was shifted to Kancheepuram region. It is now mentioned by Tangedco that a new Chennai region would be created by re-organisation of divisions in north Chennai and Kancheepuram regions etc.
