Senior officials from the Tamil Nadu State Government`s Department of Public Health have announced that the initial phase of the Rubella vaccination campaign, aimed at safeguarding children against measles, will be administered to all children under the age of 15 in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, which were significantly impacted by recent floods. The vaccination drive is scheduled to commence on December 28th.
In a statement, the Department of Public Health officials stated, "Medical check-up camps are being organized in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu that were severely affected by the recent heavy rains. Subsequently, the Rubella vaccination, providing protection against measles, will be administered to all children under 15 years of age starting from December 28th (Thursday)."
The affected districts are home to approximately 8 lakh children. Vaccination efforts will be concentrated in areas that were particularly hard-hit by the floods. The central government has supplied 10 lakh vaccination syringes, ensuring an ample supply of vaccines for the campaign. The officials emphasized, "We have a sufficient stock of vaccines available."
