In the interior parts belonging to Chennai in more than 5000 roads, there are no sign boards present now. This has been making the lives of many commuters and visitors really difficult.

It was mentioned by GCC roughly that in a total of 35000 roads in the city more than 5000 do not have sign boards or have damaged boards or rusty boards etc. The name boards present in added areas belonging to places like Ambattur, Madhavaram and Thiruvotriyur were damaged.

The street name boards have been damaged for more than 5 years now and they were not replaced. This was according to a resident from Madhavaram.

It must be taken into account that as per the TN urban local body rules both sides of the roads must have a blue printed reflective street name boards with info about zone, ward and division numbers etc. These details were unavailable in the Sholinganallur zone although name boards were present.

Ward development funds are being used to fix the name boards and this was according to some councillors. Fifty name boards in Thiruvottiyur and Kaladipet would be fixed soon and this was mentioned by ward 12 councillor, Mr. Kavi Ganesan.
