On Monday, 8th January, TN government released the Pongal special bus service schedule and it caught the attention. From 12th January 2024 to 14th January 2024 a total of `19484 buses would be operated. This was mentioned by the transport minister Mr. SS. Sivasankar. Information is that as many as 11130 buses would depart from Chennai.
Instead of Koyambedu bus terminus, the south bound buses to Madurai etc and west bound buses to Coimbatore etc operated by SETC would depart from the newly inaugurated bus terminus at Kilambakkam. Point is that these buses are either sleeper or semi-sleeper buses.
From CMBT in Koyambedu, the mofussil buses operated by TNSTC to places like Thiruvannamalai, Tindivanam, Villupuram etc would depart. From CMBT, buses to Bangalore and ECR bound would be operated.
From a temporary bus stand in Tambaram, buses to Thanjavur and Kumbakonam via Vikravandi and Panruti would depart. For the buses bound to places like Hosur, Arcot, Vellore, Kancheepuram and Cuddalore etc, Poonamallee bus stand would be the starting point.
From the K.K. Nagar bus stand, buses to Chidambaram would depart and the buses would go via Puducherry. From Madhavaram bus terminus, buses to AP would depart. At Kilambakkam, Tambaram MEPZ and Koyambedu, as many as 11 ticket reservation counters would be opened.
