In just a few days, the Pongal festival will be celebrated in Chennai and across the state of Tamil Nadu. In this scenario, a special Pongal market would start functioning at Koyambedu in Chennai from today onwards.
It is usual for the Pongal special festival to take place at Koyambedu market every year for about 9days.
Exact location of Pongal special market:
In 2024, Pongal special market would take place at the south west portion of the market at heavy vehicles parking area. Permission has been given to sell sugarcane bundles, turmeric and ginger bunches etc at wholesale prices in this market.
The Chennai residents have been advised to buy vazhai kandru or banana seedlings, earthen pots, plantain eaves, bananas, sugarbeet, yam, pumpkin, coconuts, fruits, flowers from Vegetables, Fruits and Flower shops at Koyambedu market. This decision has been taken to reduce the traffic congestion at the Koyambedu market due to the Pongal special market. This was announced by the Koyambedu market management.
