Chennai Metro Rail attains a momentous feat in Phase II project, unveiling a groundbreaking advancement with the deployment of an innovative puller axle system to launch a 30-meter-long `U girder.` The significant event unfolded in the IT corridor, integral to the ongoing development of corridor 3 from Madhavaram to SIPCOT via Sholinganallur. The elevated stretch connecting Taramani to SIPCOT, a pivotal phase of the project, has been in progress for several months.
The `U girder,` a precast structure integral to viaduct construction, now stands as the lengthiest span introduced in this corridor. The cutting-edge puller axle system, featuring a specially designed trailer equipped with 12 axles and 96 tires, played a crucial role in seamlessly transporting and erecting the girder at an impressive height of 20 meters between Okkiyampet and Karapakkam in OMR. This remarkable accomplishment is being celebrated as a historic milestone in India`s metro construction landscape, showcasing the unparalleled expertise of the Chennai Metro Rail and Larson & Toubro project team.
