ALERT CHENNAITES!! - Warning from the police dept- A new cyber fraud that is going on now in Chennai!!

Many cyber crimes have been happening in Chennai etc and people lose their hard earned money to the fraudsters. After knowing that they had been duped by the fraudsters, the innocent victims get totally shocked and disappointed etc.
Now, the police dept has warned the Chennai public regarding a new cyber fraud that is based on courier.
In this latest cyber fraud, the gullible are tricked by the fraudsters or callers who claim that one of the parcels has been intercepted by the authorities as it contains contraband or prohibited item. The fraudsters then would create a sense of urgency on the innocent public by asking them to pay a sum immediately or face prosecution. The shocking truth is that once when the public pays them money the fraudsters disappear with the money. It is true that many have fallen prey to the cyber fraudsters in the last few weeks in Chennai city and this was mentioned by the police dept.
As per V.V. Geethanjali, DCP, cyber crime, Chennai, it was clear that the fraudsters target those who get high salaries. She added that sometimes the fraudsters would not ask for money from the public for the first time itself. It must be noted that the fraudsters would collect details of the back accounts, mutual funds, deposits etc. Then, the fraudsters would ask the victim to install skype and then extract money after increasing the fear component. The DCP mentioned that the IP address of the fraudsters used by the fraudsters would usually be from Thailand or Hong Kong etc.
It is now said that those who are harassed by the fraudsters through calls must notify the suspicious phone numbers to the National Cyber Crime Reporting portal https:/cybercrime.gov.in/. The public could also use Cyber Crime Toll free helpline number1930 or register a complaint in the above said website.
