Beginning tomorrow, all buses traveling from Chennai to the southern districts will exclusively depart from the newly established Kilambakkam terminal. This move aims to streamline and enhance the travel experience for passengers heading towards the southern regions.
In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion and improve overall transport efficiency, a dedicated bus terminal was constructed at Kilambakkam after Vandalur. The terminal was inaugurated on December 30, initially serving all buses operated by the State Rapid Transport Corporation. Subsequently, since the 24th of last month, all private omni buses have also been operating from this terminal.
To further optimize operations, the transport department has announced that starting tomorrow, all buses belonging to various transport companies will depart exclusively from the Kilambakkam bus station. This includes 710 buses destined for southern districts via Chengalpattu and Tindivanam.
However, it`s important to note that buses traveling via East Coast Road and those heading towards Vellore, Ampur, Tirupattur, and Hosur via Poonamallee will continue to operate from the Koyambedu bus station, as per the standard procedure outlined by the Transport Department.
Additionally, 160 buses traveling through Redhills will be directed to operate from the Madhavaram bus stand. The department emphasizes that this strategic realignment is intended to enhance efficiency and convenience for both commuters and operators alike. Passengers are encouraged to stay informed about these changes and plan their journeys accordingly.
