There are many differently able persons who travel in the buses to reach their destinations across TN.
The superb news is that the TN state govt has placed a procurement order to purchase 150 fully built low floor buses at a cost of Rs 135.48 cr. This was announced by the state transport minister Mr. S.S. Sivashankar on Monday. By this, the differently able persons would be able to travel hassle free in the buses. With the assistance of the state govt, the new buses are being procured.
It is now said that for the benefit of the differently able persons the low floor buses would be operated in the town routes.
Information gathered is that out of the total 150 buses 38 buses would be for TNSTC Kumbakonam, 33 buses would be for Madurai. For Villupuram, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Salem, there would be 26, 20, 17 and 16 buses respectively.
It is worth mentioning here that orders have been placed already for buying 552 low floor buses including 352 buses for MTC in Chennai. This would be through KfW funding of Rs 500.97 cr.
