Notification released by the Managing Director, R. Mohan of the State Express Transport Corporation:
"As the weekend approaches, arrangements have been made to operate 500 special buses from various locations, including Chennai Metro City.
Considering the upcoming weekend (Saturday, 10th February) and Sunday (11th February), which are auspicious days for weddings, it is anticipated that a large number of passengers will undertake trips from Chennai Metro City and other places on Friday, 9th February.
To accommodate this expected rush of passengers during the weekend, the State Express Transport Corporation has arranged to operate additional special buses in addition to the regular ones.
Accordingly, special buses will be operated from the Chennai Kilambakkam Mofussil Bus Terminus to Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Thirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tirupur.
Additionally, 300 special buses will be operated from the Chennai Koyambedu Mofussil Bus Terminus to Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bangalore.
Furthermore, plans are in place to operate an additional 200 buses from Bangalore on 9th February. Consequently, a total of 500 additional special buses will be in operation.
Moreover, as passengers returning to Chennai and Bangalore from their weekend trips are expected on Sunday, additional special buses will be operated based on demand.
Currently, 11,420 passengers have reserved tickets for travel during the weekend."
