The Commissioner for Grocery Distribution, Harsahay Meena, has informed that family ration cards WILL NOT BE CANCELLED in case the card-holder and family failed to register their fingerprints.
The details of the notification released by the commissioner in this regard are as follows:
"As per the Food Safety Act, the Central Government has issued a circular to register and verify the fingerprints of all the members given in the family ration card to verify the Aadhar details of the Family Ration Card holder based on the data already entered by the Priority and Anthyodhaya Family ration Cards.
Accordingly, it has been advised to carry out this activity smoothly without causing any undue hardship to the family ration card members.
Verification of the fingerprints recorded is being carried out whenever the members have time to relax or when they visit the ration shops to purchase groceries. This verification activity has been in progress since last October (2023).
So far, verification of fingerprints has been completed for 63% of the family ration card holders. Verification of the remaining 37% is also in gradual progress.
Family Ration Card Holders can renew their particulars in their ration cards as required. If this is not possible, activities have been initiated to conduct special camps for this purpose or even make house-to-house visits to complete this.
It is important to note that NONE of the family cards will be cancelled!
Furthermore, the names of the persons who failed to register fingerprints WILL NOT BE REMOVED!
There is no need to submit any additional application on white sheets in this regard.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPORTANT FOR THE PUBLIC TO REMAIN CALM IN THIS REGARD!"
