Awareness is being created now by GCC in Chennai regarding VVPAT or voter verifiable paper audit trail device in vehicles. It must be recalled that a few years back the election commission introduced the VVPAT device or a method that provides feedback to the voters using a ballotless voting system. Point is that VVPAT is an independent verification system for voting machines designed to allow the voters to verify whether their vote was cast correctly. By this, election frauds could be identified and auditing the stored electronic results would be possible.
Now the Lok Sabha elections are fast approaching and the GCC Is carrying the work of creating awareness about VVPAT. In those places where crowds gather in Chennai such as public places, educational institutions etc, GCC is creating awareness by having voter devices, VVPATs etc in the vehicles. It is noteworthy that students and various groups etc cast their votes and get to know how to verify etc.
