In response to recent floods in Tamil Nadu, the state government, led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, has announced a comprehensive rehabilitation plan. With an allocation of Rs 382 crore, the government aims to repair and reconstruct houses in flood-affected areas, particularly in Chennai suburbs and southern districts like Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi.

Under this initiative, partially damaged houses will receive up to Rs. 2 lakh each for repair, while completely damaged houses will be reconstructed with a grant of Rs. 4 lakh each. The Rural Development Department will oversee these efforts, which include the construction of 4,577 new houses at an estimated cost of Rs 385 crore.

Furthermore, Rs 199 crore has been designated for repairing 9,975 houses, with an additional Rs 182 crore earmarked for further repair activities. This proactive approach by the Tamil Nadu government underscores its commitment to the welfare of affected communities, aiming to provide relief and support for their recovery and resilience in the face of natural disasters.
