The passengers at the Chennai airport need not have to wait for a long period of time at the entry and at the security check areas. Seamless completion of procedure before boarding into the flight would be possible now.
Thanks to the DigiYatra System (powered by facial recognition technology) that would come into effect at the Chennai airport from this week.
For the last few weeks, trial runs have been going on regarding this and there have been no issues. It was mentioned by some AAI officials that this DigiYatra System would be available at the domestic terminal.
Point is that those travellers who wish to use this system must download and register on the DigiYatra app. Before the journey, the passengers must enter their name, mobile number and Aadhar details etc. The passengers must take a picture of them and upload. It is noteworthy that when the passenger reaches the airport then QR code generated by the app must be shown at the entry gates. The photo of the passenger would be taken by the camera present there. The passengers would be able to walk easily through facial scan before security check and boarding with the availability of separate e-gates for the DigiYatra passengers.
It must be recalled that this sensational DigiYatra system was first introduced in India more than 6 years back. Currently, many airports across the country have this amazing system to help the passengers. It is learnt that this DigiYatra system is not compulsory and the passengers could use this if they find it convenient.
